Pick-Up & Drop-Off
Q. Do you offer a courtesy pick up and drop off service?
A. Yes, within Airlie Beach, Cannonvale & Shute Harbour. We are unable to offer this service for Proserpine and the Proserpine airport at this stage.
Age
Q. How old do you have to be to rent the Mini Mokes, Smart Cars & Honda Jazz’s?
A. 21 – 75 yrs of age.
Q. How old do you have to be to hire the Scootcars and Scooters?
A. Scootcars: 18 – 75 yrs of age.
Scooters: 21 - 75 years of age.
Payment Method
Q. Do I need a credit card to hire a car?
A. Yes, we do a Pre-Authorization of between $100.00 per day and total amount of hire charge on a credit card (Visa, Master Card, Amex & JCB accepted) this is not a debit; the money is placed on hold on the credit card and simply drops off in approximately three working days or immediately if payment is made by credit card.
Q. Can I pay cash deposit instead of using my credit card?
A. We can take a $500.00 cash bond for Scooters and Scootcars only.
Q. Does the Pre-Authorisation have to be placed on the driver/s credit card?
A. No, we have a form that can be completed by the credit card holder, authorising the driver/s to rent the vehicle. The credit card holder should be aware that even if they are not traveling in or driving the vehicle, they are financially liable for any damage/infringement that may occur. This form can be filled out in person at our office or we can fax or email it to the credit card holder. Unfortunately we would not be able to take the credit card details over the phone, as we require the credit card holder’s signature.
Drivers Licence
Q. Do I need an Australian Driver’s License?
A. No. We require a current drivers license. If your driver’s license is an overseas drivers license, we require it to be fully legible in English for insurance purposes.
One Way Trips
Q. Can I leave the car at the airport or on a one-way trip to Cairns, Brisbane etc?
A. Sorry no, we currently only have the one office which is in Airlie Beach central.
Distances
Q. What distances can I travel?
A. The vehicles must stay within a radius from Airlie Beach as follows:
Scooters: 30 km's Radius
Scootcars: 30 km's Radius
Mini Mokes: 100 km's Radius
Honda Jazz: 300 km's Radius
Smart Car: 300 km's Radius
Km’s & Fuel
Q. What are the km and fuel entitlements?
A. You receive 100 free km's per day, anything over that is 30 cents per km. Jazz and Smart cars have an unlimited km rate which is only $30 above the standard rate. The vehicle is rented out with a full tank of premium-unleaded fuel and we request it be returned with a full tank of premium-unleaded fuel, otherwise $1.75 per litre will need to be charged to refuel the vehicle.
Insurance
Q. Does the car hire price include car insurance?
A. Yes, the insurance does not include the windscreen and tyres. The types of insurance are as follows:
Scooters: 3rd Party only, 30 km radius
Scootcars: Comprehensive, (unless driver is under 21, then it is 3rd Party only) 12 km radius
Mini Mokes: Comprehensive
Honda Jazz: Comprehensive
Smart Car: Comprehensive
Q. Can more than one person drive the car?
A. Yes, there is an additional driver fee of $5.00. This is for insurance purposes.
Q. Is there an additional driver fee for the Scooters and Scootcars?
A. No.
Cancellations
Q. Is there a cancellation fee?
A. No, unless notice of cancellation is not given within 24 hrs of arrival, otherwise the first day rental fee will be charged.
Baby Seats
Q. Do you provide child restraints?
A. Yes. For a minimal fee of $10.00 we provide quality restraint’s/baby and booster seats which the renter is required to install. Baby carriers are available for bicycles for a fee of $10.00
Extensions
Q. What if I want to extend the contract?
A. In order not to inconvenience the next renter we ask you to return the vehicle no later than one hour of the contracted time otherwise a late fee will apply. If you intend to return late you need to notify the Fun Rentals office so as we can extend your insurance coverage to the new return time and date.
Returning the Vehicle
Q. Do we need to return the vehicle clean?
A. Fun rentals clean all vehicles upon return but as we pride ourselves on maintaining a high quality and standard of cleanliness in our fleet, we ask you return the car in a satisfactory condition otherwise a detailing fee may be incurred.
Smoking/Pets
Q. Can we smoke and/or have pets?
A. Sorry, no. If cars have been smoked in or have had any animals transported in it a detailing fee will be charged to the renter.
Infringement Notices
Q. Does the renter pay for infringements?
A. Yes.
Maps
Q. Do you supply maps?
A. Yes, A complimentary map of the Whitsunday region, with suggested driving destinations is provided.
